La Mort D'Un.e. Moderniste presents: Celebrating our third anniversary with Cry Now, Cry Later compilation series

Note: Yeah baby

Coucou, les chaton.ne.s! We're back with the last entry of 2017. Since I'm out of town during holidays, it's been a little bit difficult to post something. So, we'll have to make some changes. Again. Firstly, the final part of our infamous yet successful special post about both 80s and 90s american emo will be published after January 7th. And, secondly, shortly after that entry, we'll start with our 80s swedish hardcore punk mini-special post. On the other hand, this wasn't exactly the content previewed for this post, but these classical powerviolence and grindcore compilations express my hate towards many aspects of my life during this fucked up and shitty year. Obviously, everything wasn't as dramatic as you may think. Thanks to you, the popularity of this blog considerably increased this year and I'm more motivated than ever. I have no words to express my gratitude, les chaton.ne.s! But I know that without you this couldn't be possible. Namasté. Finally, Happy New Year. We'll come back with more surprises and start some unfinished projects we've been working on the last few months. Enjoy and until next time. Kisses and hugs!

Cry Now, Cry Later Vols. 1 & 2 and Vols. 3 & 4 CDs

This superb classic 90s hardcore compilation series was released by Theologian Records and Pessimiser Records (USA) in 1993 (Vol. 1), 1994 (Vol. 2), 1995 (Vol. 3) and 1996 (Vol. 4) on LP format. Now, the featured bands are: Spazz, 13, Crom, The Fishsticks, Stapled Shut, Crisis, EyeHateGod, Despise You, Meatshits, Grief and Capitalist Casualties (Vol. 1); 16, Excrucitating Terror, Iabhorher, Cattlepress, Lack Of Interest, Fleabag, Factoria de Miedo (which is Fear Factory singing in spanish), Despise You and Stapled Shut (Vol. 2); Divisia, Carol, Spazz, Los Crudos, Gasp, Halfman, Noothgrush, Charles Bronson, Locust and Detestation (Vol. 3); Man Is The Bastard, Lack Of Interest, Soilent Green, Crom, Excrucitating Terror, Cavity, Flame Retarded, Agathocles and Suppression. In 1998, these 4 volumes were re-released and divided in two CDs featuring some Black Army Jacket, Cojoba, Pisspoor, Unruh (Vols. 1 & 2 CD), Abnegation, Seven Foot Spleen and Agoraphobic Nosebleed (Vols. 3 & 4 CD) extra tracks, absent in the original releases. Regarding the sound, most of the bands are related to both powerviolence and grindcore offshoots (some names are evident) but you'll also find some few exceptions. For example, Loomis Slovak was a political emo band, Carol from Germany delight us with their superb Northcore style, and some sludge heavyweights such as Noothgrush, EyeHateGod and Grief are present too. I've always wondered why Abnegation (affiliated to hardline straight edge movement) and Meat Shits (some lyrics and attitudes can be regarded as misogynistic) are included. Nonetheless, these records compile some of the best hardcore punk styles displayed in the 90s. You'll also find their artwork a little bit shocking because there are some displays of violence, poverty and drug addiction on it but life isn't pink colored. It really is unfair and unjust. Lastly, click on the image for downloading both CDs, as well as the original artwork of the LP versions. Highly recommended. Enjoy!
